Special to the Signal We recently made a quick visit back to my hometown, Iola, Kansas, the place I was born, to celebrate the 80th birthday of a dear aunt of mine. For the event, our daughter had a friend come and meet her there, and with a lack of anything else to do in the town after we left the party, we simply drove around town.

Kiowa County Senior Center shares holiday meal plans

Thanksgiving Dinner: Our Thanksgiving Dinner is a little early this year and also happens to land on Veterans Day, November 11 at noon.This meal is sponsored by St. John National Bank and is provided for Kiowa County senior citizen’s age 60 and older and their invited guests. The menu is Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Pumpkin Cake, and a dinner roll. Please call Kari at 620-723--2288 for reservations.

Sawyer tour stops in Kiowa County

During a whirlwind tour of more than 95 counties, and counting, Katie Sawyer, candidate for Lt. Governor in partnership with Attorney General Derek Schmidt for Governor, stopped in Stafford County. On Wednesday, Nov. 2, Sawyer, along with State Rep. Kyle Hoffman and U.S. Congressman Ron Estes stopped in at Barclay College in Haviland and then held a meet and greet at the Coop in Greensburg.
