Meyer and Schmidt elected to City Commission; local results reflect statewide choices except for governor

More than half of Pratt County’s 5,600 registered voters took to the polls on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 to exercise their freedom to vote. That 55.89 percent of voters overwhelmingly sent U.S. Senate incumbent Jerry Moran (R) back to work for Kansas with 2,413 votes to (D) Mark Holland’s 585 votes. U.S. Representative from District 4 Ron Estes (R) received overwhelming support at 77 percent with 2,373 votes over rival Bob Hernandez (D); while additional decisive victories included Kris Kobach (R) for Attorney General with a 65.23 percent advantage and Steve Johnson (R) for State Treasurer over Lynn Rogers (D) at 68.09 percent.

Food drive numbers still in fluctuation as collecting period comes to an end

This year’s Pratt High School Drive to Thrive food collection has ended, but busy schedules have prevented immediate pickup so numbers are not finalized for participating collection points. “We extended the drive one extra work day until Monday, November 14th due to Friday, the 11th being a bank holiday,” said STUCO sponsor Michelle Popovich.

Senior Center blessed by young visitors

We have been blessed in so many ways over the last few weeks at the center to have MANY young visitors with us! We have had Mrs. Prosser and her first grade class come and chalked out sidewalks to honor our Veterans, and Kiowa County National Honor society students came last Wed. to eat with us and personally invite the seniors to ball games! We even had a couple of them pitch in with dishes when they found out that our dishwasher was waiting on parts!! Thank you!
