On November 28, five area teams competed in the St. John-Hudson High School’s Annual Scholars Bowl Invitational Tournament: Central Plains, Ellinwood, Macksville, Pratt-Skyline, and St. John-Hudson. It was a true community event with many local volunteers and helpers.
Turquoise & Tines in Pratt is a great place to shop, especially during the Christmas season. Shopping for gifts can be such a stressful task, but I enjoy doing it. Walking into Turquoise & Tines is like walking into someone’s home; a home that allows you to feel comfortable, and with people who genuinely greet you, making gift shopping easier. There’s no other place that I would like to shop to get my friends’ gifts.

The South Central Community Foundation (SCCF) has awarded Smoky Hills PBS with a grant of $1,900 to support the station’s Literacy Leadership Program. The Literacy Leadership Program is an effort from Smoky Hills PBS to engage and inspire children to be ready and eager to learn. One component of this program is the First Book Club, in which Smoky Hills PBS gives free books to children enrolled in preschool or head start programs.
