If my 73 years on this rock has taught me anything, it’s just when you think you have seen and heard it all, you haven’t! Our friends at PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) are at it again, and frankly, we should have seen this one coming. Their latest quest involves trying to free the self-avowed weather prognosticator and main character of Groundhog Day, Punxsutawney Phil.

USDA Rural Development invests in Kansas energy projects, including Kiowa County

TOPEKA - U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Director for Kansas Rural Development Christy Davis announced Jan. 15 that Rural Development is funding 54 projects to generate clean energy and improve energy efficiency in Kansas. The $5,883,731 in investments are made through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).

Crossing the Threshold: God breathes life into all

I learned a most interesting little tidbit of information recently about air and breathing. Did you know that if you form your mouth into the shape of “haha” and say the words, your breath comes out warm? And did you know that if you form your mouth into the shape of “hoo hoo,” (like an owl) the air that comes out of your mouth is colder? I thought that was so cool, and have been trying it off and on ever since I read it on Facebook.
