Student research top challenges for bison management in Texas

Texas A&M AgriLife Research, including student projects, continues to advance science related to management of bison in Texas for conservation and production. Perry Barboza, Ph.D., AgriLife Research professor in the Departments of Ecology and Conservation Biology and Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, said research into the sustainability of bison in Texas for production and conservation is focused on addressing basic challenges and establishing foundational knowledge.

Skyline School agriscience teacher appointed to National Cohort of CASE Lab Specialists

Special to the Tribune Anita DeWeese, agriscience educator at Skyline School, served in the annual cohort of Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) Lab Specialists. Thirty CASE-certified teachers were selected from across the nation to deliver curriculum demonstrations and micro-professional development in The Lab powered by CASE during the 95th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, IN in October.

Specialty crop producers invited to join marketing academy

MANHATTAN,Kansas — The Kansas Department of Agriculture and From the Land of Kansas state trademark program will host a marketing training academy in 2023 for Kansas specialty crop growers. This program — Marketing Mastery Academy for Specialty Crop Growers — is designed to bring marketing skills and strategies to specialty crop growers to expand the sale of specialty crop products in Kansas.

Local youth earn top awards in KJLS

The Kansas Junior Livestock Show got its start in November 1933, drawing 500 exhibitors and more than 1,000 head of livestock to the Wichita (Kan.) Forum. Since then, the 90-yearold event has stayed true to its heritage by continuing to be the largest youth livestock show in the state.This year, more than 700 exhibitors entered 1,422 animals in the show, which was held Sept.
