Pratt Area Humane Society full of thanks for recent donations, support

April Hemphill, Director of Pratt Area Humane Society is feeling thankful these days. Not only is a new HVAC system coming soon that will keep the air fresh and smelling good in the facility at 10233 Bluestem Blvd, Pratt, but donations and grants have been pouring in to help provided support for dogs and cats in need of care in the area.

EMT class delayed until January 2022 in St. John

The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Chairman Grimmett called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Clayton Grimmett, Todd Wycoff and Bryce Garner.

Area seniors keep it moving with exercise classes, coffee

The Emergency Food Assistance Program Commodities Distribution was held at Witt Community Center October 26, 2021. Sunflower Senior Center Volunteers promote this program. There were 40 households represented with 8 volunteers handing out the commodities.

Foreign investors must report land ownership to Farm Service Agencies

Pratt, Kansas, November 15, 2021 — Lori Kreutzer, County Executive Director of the Pratt and Barber County Farm Service Agency, today reminded foreign investors who buy, sell or hold a direct or indirect interest in agricultural lands in the United States that they are required under the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act to report their holdings and transactions to the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.

Located at 609 E. First in St. John, Kansas. St. John Clinic is open from 8:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins with urgent care needs will be accommodated. Dr. Frederick J. Farmer, III, D.O., A.M.E., specializes in family medicine, aviation medicine, and wilderness medicine. St. John Clinic is also staffed with a physician assistant Monday through Friday.

Pratt County approves lake memorial for local fisherman

Pratt resident Roberta Mayes brought a special request to the November 1 Pratt County Commission meeting. She told commissioners she would like to post a memorial sign on pier #2 at the Pratt County Veterans Lake. The sign would simply say, “Papa’s Pier," in memory of Mayes husband, Lewis Mayes, Jr, who died recently. He enjoyed fishing from that pier.

Pratt Community Center to host annual Thanksgiving day feast

While Tiffany Ailstock and her volunteer cooking crew at the Pratt Community Center have no idea yet on how many turkey dinners they will need to prepare for Thanksgiving Day crowds on November 25, they have all the ingredients ready to go for this annual tradition in Pratt.
