Stafford County Fire Department Director Marshall Sanders is proud of the work his 60-member volunteer crews performed during 2021, and rightfully so. With more than 1, 385 training hours, and nearly the same amount of actual fire-fighting time logged on more than 94 emergency calls that included grass fires, vehicle and equipment fires, structure fires, vehicle accidents, citizen assists and EMS assists, the level of commitment from these teams is notably phenomenal.

Cooks keep senior citizens fed during recent closures due to COVID-19

Like many other entities in Kiowa County last week, the Kiowa County Senior Center had to make decisions about holding open hours or closing due to a rise of COVID-19 positive cases in the area. Under advisement from the Kiowa County Health Department the Kiowa County Senior Center Board of Directors voted to close the center to all dining in and activities for a week.

4-H pig project teaches patience, inspires progress for Pratt County family

It all started with a few butcher hogs that inspired a 4-H project five years ago. Next came successful Pratt County Fair blue-ribbon projects Goose and Mose. And now Brett Atteberry, 16, and his brother Wiley, 13, couldn’t be happier to be caring for 10 wiggling, snorting, cavorting baby pigs born in their backyard on Christmas Eve at their small farm just off 20463 S. U.S. Highway 281 in Pratt County.

The Pratt girl’s and boy’s powerlifting teams had strong showings in a recent meet against Wellington. The girls finished fourth and the boys fifth overall.

The Holy Spirit as the regenerator

In Titus 3:5 it says, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” So, we cannot save ourselves, no madder how hard we try. But first we have to see our short comings and we can just see it through our eyes, not God’s eyes. We have to be convicted by the Holy Spirit, and then and only then see how far the human race has fallen. In John 16:7-9, Jesus says, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me” We can tell people about sin and unrighteousness but It takes the Holy Spirit through us to verify that we need regenerated.
