Blue sky, wispy clouds, warm sun and light breeze combined to make Sunday a perfect weather day in Kiowa County. In Haviland, many residents were out walking, playing and enjoying the beautiful day, taking in the warmth as forecast ers have predicted a 50-degree drop in temperatures by mid-week.

Iuka gets new shelter for coming storm season

The citizens of Iuka, located six miles north of Pratt, can breathe a little easier knowing that they now have a FEMA approved storm shelter in place. On Monday, Trand Inc. from Pratt helped place the new storm shelter on the west side of the Iuka City Fire Station, just three blocks east of U.S. Highway 281 that runs by this Pratt County town, population 187.

Have you ever just had one of those days? I mean a really crazy day where nothing goes right! I’ll never forget one day I was exasperated with a particular situation concerning some people in my life and I was telling my aunt how I felt about them and what kind of things I would like to do to them physically. (I am sure you are perfect and never have a bad thought about anyone, but I am not.) As I expressed to her the extensive pain I would like to cause them and a few particular things I would like to express to them.

An apparent reality in these days of moral relativism is the slow but sure neglect of the Christian faith within the United States. The religious landscape in our Nation continues to change at a rapid pace. Christianity, referring to Protestants and Catholics, continues to decrease, whereas the religious Nones, people who do not affiliate with any religion, are rising in number; their political party of choice is Democrat (Pew).
