Russia hits Ukraine fuel supplies, airfields in new attacks

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia unleashed a wave of attacks on Ukraine last week targeting airfields and fuel facilities in what appeared to be the next phase of an invasion that has been slowed by fierce resistance. The U.S. and EU responded with weapons and ammunition for the outnumbered Ukrainians and powerful sanctions intended to further isolate Moscow.

Death, dust and resurrection

“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” Many Christians will hear these words as they worship on this day of Ash Wednesday. Some might even choose to have ashes in the form of a cross traced upon their foreheads as a sign to remind them that the only escape from the wage of death that our sin pays is the cross where Jesus suffered our punishment for our sin and where He paid the price to redeem us for eternal life.

Consider what He has already done

Have you ever refused to do something you knew God wanted you to do? That might be too difficult to answer, let me ask it another way. Have you ever done something you knew God would not want you to do?

Those who have an ear let them hear

One of the greatest mysteries is the perplexing relationship between God and humans. I cannot think of a more glorious yet frustrating subject. Especially when it comes to people trying to find answers when all they have is questions. I’ve counseled and given psychological first aid to those who have gone through a traumatic crisis and I’ve listened to people in hospital waiting rooms repeat that age-old question, “Why is this happening?” They cry and beg, but many times they cannot hear a sound from Heaven, and usually neither can anyone else. I’m thankful for the holy scriptures that are wonderful promises, but nothing would be better than to sit down at the kitchen table with Jesus or at least one of His angels and have some coffee while we discuss all the things I would like to know. I’m sure that if we were given this glorious invitation that trusting God would be the foundation of the conversation.

Derese McAbee brings Bob Ross to Pratt

Derese McAbee is a busy bee around Pratt. As activities director at the Pratt Public Library, she can be on any given week found conducting cooking classes, organizing maker zone crafts, or even preparing space for magic shows. This past month however, she brought Bob Ross of public-television-painting-fame back to life in the form of painting classes that have become wildly popular among the art-seekers of Pratt.
