One day when I was babysitting my 4-year-old grandson, we were watching a YouTube video about toys and an individual was demonstrating how this particular toy worked. When an ad came up on the screen interrupting our video. I quickly grabbed the remote to press the button “skip ad” but my grandson said “No! Wait Mimi, I like this guy so let it play so they will get paid” Confused for a moment I was shocked that my young grandson knew how the economy of YouTube worked. While some believe LIS adds immense value to the overall fishing experience, others believe it poses an ethical dilemma, blurring the lines of “fair chase.” So, when is an advancement too advanced? That’s the data KDWP Fisheries staff sought but couldn’t find; so, they developed it themselves in a first-of-its-kind study.

Not long ago, I was driving east on U.S. 160 through about 100 miles from home when my minivan suddenly shuddered a bit. I thought, That was strange, and continued on my way. Minutes later, the shifting of the automatic 5-speed transmission became a bit shifty, the engine racing for a moment while gears tried to get their act together. Then the transition would complete and all would return to normal.
