WNBA players say life in Russia was lucrative but lonely

For the elite athletes in the WNBA, spending the offseason playing in Russia can mean earning more money than they can make back home — sometimes even two or three times as much. But those who have done that also describe the loneliness of being away from family and friends, of struggling with an unfamiliar language and culture, and of living in a place with only a few hours of sunlight in the winter and temperatures well below freezing.

Local club shares spring meeting events

When the Country Trailblazers 4-H club met February 13 for their regular monthly meeting donations for Pratt and Skylines After Prom were discussed. For the program portion of the meeting we learned about Clayton and Kinley Freeman’s goats.

What happens after Easter?

Wow! What a week we just had! We celebrated Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem at the beginning of the week and went to the cross with him on Good Friday. Finally, we celebrated his resurrection on Easter with joy and singing! What a week it was!

What Earth Day meant to some people

For many in Pratt, Earth Day last Friday was more than just bold letters on a calendar square. The Pratt County Extension Master Gardeners used their Earth Day morning to fill the downtown planters with flowers and vegetation and a local business owner took the day off to spend time with friends and fingers in the dirt. Children even took part in a special activity at the Pratt Public Library in honor of 2022 Earth Day even though they started a day earlier.

Local clinic offers many health services in St. John

Farmer Clinic, Rural Health Clinic in St. John, began in 1989. The Farmer Clinic has a staff of five that includes Fredrick J. Farmer, III, D.O., Margaret Myers, ARNP, Melissa Dove, RN, Erin Strohl, RN, and Jessie Blakeslee, Receptionist. Farmer Clinic is affiliated with Pratt Regional Medical Center.
