Kenwood Plaza decorated by local school students

A Kindred Hospice volunteer contacted St. John - Hudson USD 350 about students creating door decorations for Kenwood Plaza residents. Birthday cards were created by third grade students to be given out when a resident celebrates a birthday. St. John - Hudson students also created poems to decorate a wall for Kenwood residents.

Bake sale and family carnival help raise funds for collapsed roof in Sawyer

The small town of Sawyer, Kansas in Pratt County might have 80 residents, plus or minus a few of the littlest residents, but just about everyone there, and in nearby towns like Coats and Isabel, know Patsy Janzen Aubley. Aubley is one of those community-minded people who likes helping support others. If there is a pancake supper to plan or support, Aubley is there. If there is a family in need, Aubley gets the ball rolling, if there is a history project or gardening, or garage sale or park project to grab a hold of, Aubley is likely involved.

A season of change: Live by faith

A letter to my daughter celebrating the third anniversary of her college graduation this month! Did you ever wonder what your kid was doing?? Wonder why they were making the choices they were making?? Well here is a little of our story I wrote to my daughter in 2019!

It is more blessed to give than to receive

The seven steps to Good Trouble in this series were drawn from Laura Haviland’s life. They were also inspired by my research into her autobiography, as well as life examples from Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas, Levi Coffin, and of course from the principles and concepts found in the Bible and specifically the life of Christ. I have shared several stories with you from my book, Underground Angel-the life story of Laura Haviland in the pages of the Pratt Tribune.

Worship God, not the Bible

For many people of faith, there is a great love of the Bible – and for good reason! The Bible is a treasure trove of stories about God interacting with humanity, it is a rich resource for learning how our ancestors in the faith made difficult decisions, it contains beloved prayers, it is the source of many of our favorite words of hope, and it makes freely available teachings that have benefitted the entire world. I give thanks to God for this good book! Do you as well?
