Scot Yarnell and Jill Hulse, native Kansans, were eager to accept positions at The Center for Counseling & Consultation because they believe they can satisfy local needs that continue to grow. Yarnell is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, while Hulse is a family practitioner studying to add (PMH NP) to her credentials.

The South Central Community Foundation announces tour dates for area

South Central Community Foundation (SCCF) is excited to announce their schedule for the 2022 Summer Listening Tours. Hoping to gain insight into the counties they serve, these meetings will start with a quick overview of the Foundation before moving into discussion with the attendees about their community’s successes and difficulties.

Pyle to pursue Office of Governor

State Senator Dennis Pyle has announced that he has appointed a treasurer and is planning to pursue the office of Governor with an official statement forthcoming. “Due to the continual gross negligence in protecting and assisting citizens, my family and I have decided it is in the best interest of our state that I pursue running for Governor to enact solutions to stop the hardship of Kansans.

Attend the church of your choice

My guess is that most of the people who get this far into the paper and read the Religion columns are church people; folks who go to church on Sunday and maybe on Wednesday night as well; folks who love the Lord and serve his church faithfully, people who I am glad to call brothers and sisters in Christ.

Thinking about our beliefs

June 12, the Sunday after Pentecost, is the day the church traditionally calls “Trinity Sunday.” It is also a day many preachers dislike; how do you write a meaningful sermon on a doctrine, especially one so difficult to fully explain. It is a problem that has been around since the early church began thinking about its beliefs.

I was having a discussion with a friend the other day about how it seems that so many people are living in fear and discouragement when he mentioned something that really made me think. He said that it was impossible to be depressed and walk in the joy of God’s presence at the same time.
