Can you believe it is just about the end of summer? If your kids are anything like mine, the battle cries of, “We are bored!” and “What are we doing today?” have started to fill the time between waking up and finishing my first cup of coffee. I always like to hold out on some tricks up my sleeve for August.
The 2022-23 school year is right around the corner, which, for USD 382 Pratt, brings many new changes and updates to the school and staff. Superintendent of schools Tony Helfrich said he is very excited for the upcoming school year, and that there are several new teachers, as well as activities and clubs available in all three schools.

(Aug. 1, 2022) – Josie Zink, a kindergarten teacher at Southwest Elementary School in Pratt USD 382, has received a $500 grant through Western Governors University’s (WGU) “Fund My Classroom” initiative. The grant will be used to purchase resources to improve her classroom library by granting students access to new books with characters who look, think and act like them, as well as resources to challenge their science, engineering, mathematical and problem-solving skills. Zink learned she was selected for the grant in May when she was surprised with a check presentation at her school.
