End of Summer Bucket List

Can you believe it is just about the end of summer? If your kids are anything like mine, the battle cries of, “We are bored!” and “What are we doing today?” have started to fill the time between waking up and finishing my first cup of coffee. I always like to hold out on some tricks up my sleeve for August.

USD 382 embraces changes for new school year

The 2022-23 school year is right around the corner, which, for USD 382 Pratt, brings many new changes and updates to the school and staff. Superintendent of schools Tony Helfrich said he is very excited for the upcoming school year, and that there are several new teachers, as well as activities and clubs available in all three schools.

Southwest Elementary School teacher receives $500 grant from Western Governors University

Pratt, Kan. (Aug. 1, 2022) – Josie Zink, a kindergarten teacher at Southwest Elementary School in Pratt USD 382, has received a $500 grant through Western Governors University’s (WGU) “Fund My Classroom” initiative. The grant will be used to purchase resources to improve her classroom library by granting students access to new books with characters who look, think and act like them, as well as resources to challenge their science, engineering, mathematical and problem-solving skills. Zink learned she was selected for the grant in May when she was surprised with a check presentation at her school.

Pratt students earn distinction at KU

LAWRENCE — The names of more than 6,600 graduates at the University of Kansas for summer and fall 2021 and spring 2022 have been announced by the University Registrar. Many graduates and candidates for degree celebrated by participating in KU Commencement, which took place May 15.
