Skyline returns solid core of hard-working seniors

The Skyline High School volleyball team, led by 6thyear coach Lori Anschutz, returns to action this week with six seniors ready to play. Kady Anschutz, Monika Castillo, Josie Wray, Randi Hoffman, Halle Young, and Tracy Nation are joined by sophomores Kory Anschutz and Ashley Spease, all ready to pick up where they left off and win titles. Practice started last Monday.

Be real with farmers

I give a lot of my time to help young leaders grow and develop through programs like 4-H and FFA. Though my biggest motivation is paying it forward because of all the people who helped me, I also directly benefit from working with these students who are experts on pop culture, new fashion, slang terminology and the latest social media trends.

The bearcat has us trained

Ephesians 6:4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Our cat has us trained; or maybe I should say, “We’re his humans.” Since The Bearcat has lived here, we’ve noticed he most always has a method determined to have his way. If he’s hungry he sits at the patio door and meows until we let him in; then goes to the refrigerator, looks up at it, then back at Margie or me, until we get out his cat food.
