On Friday, August 26, the Pratt Greenbacks traveled to Dodge City to participate in a three team fall jamboree. It was a round robin style event, with the three teams being Pratt, Dodge City, and Cimarron.
Drought conditions across the country noticeably affect farmers and ranchers and the animals they care for, but how are fish and wildlife responding to current drought conditions? It’s important to remember that fish and wildlife naturally adapt to fluctuations in weather conditions, including harsh winters and droughts. That said, extended drought conditions can have the most direct and severe impacts on fish communities and fish habitats. Below are a few examples of impacts drought can have on some fish and wildlife.
If crowd noise was any indication, then Saturday’s Pratt Strong Community Night Out was a success, despite falling rain interruptions. Co-organizer Tiffany Riley was very happy with how the evening of food, fun and face painting went, even though the movie plans were canceled because of weather.

Pratt-area children learn about packing crisis care kits and school kits for needy children in other countries, supervised by mission-minded adults Marcia Shrack, Ike Agwu, Stacey Canfield and Arthur Oltmans during Vacation Bible School earlier this month at the Abundant Harvest Church of the Nazarene. Something special is happening on stage during play practices at the Pratt High School/Liberty Middle School stage. Students who have worked and played together for 12 or more years are making the most of the moments they have left as a unit on the theatrical stage, and the chemistry that is evolving for the musical production of ‘Little Women’ set for Sept. 10 and 11, is palpable.
