With Kansas home to a large percentage of those sharing German ancestry it’s no wonder that Pratt’s annual Oktoberfest is such a hit. But don’t worry if German ancestry isn’t a common denominator. Much like “everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day,” during this festival in Pratt, everyone is encouraged to put on their lederhosen, grab a stein of their favorite beverage and “be German.”

Routine bridge inspection approved

The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Chairman Wycoff called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Todd Wycoff, Bryce Garner, and Clayton Grimmett.

Center provides socialization opportunities

Socialization is important for seniors as it improves mood, cognition, memory recall and is associated with healthy behaviors, including exercise. Socialization may reduce stress and isolation for seniors. Coffee and Conversation is officially scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. However, most mornings, there are people enjoying the conversation, friendship and coffee. Tuesday mornings homemade cookie aroma permeate the air. Come and enjoy!

USD 350 holds career fair

On Monday, September 19, a fourth-sixth grade hands-on Career Fair was held at the Stafford County Annex in St. John. Senior students from Mrs. Joanna McAlister’s English class planned, organized, and facilitated the Career Fair.
