Beaver Cross Country broke records in Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. – The Pratt Community College cross country team traveled to Fayetteville, Arkansas on Friday, September 30th for the 34th Annual Chile Pepper Festival. The men’s team competed in the 8K with the women competing in the 5K.

Quiet zone quest for information continued

Pratt City Commissioners heard additional information about the possibility of a railroad quiet zone from resident Cynthia Geesling at the October 3 regular meeting of the commission. At a prior meeting, during the open agenda portion, Geesling, had proposed the possibility of a quiet zone and commissioners asked City Manager Bruce Pinkall and City Attorney Regina Goff to pursue more information.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is warning consumers about recently reported incidents of the “pay yourself scam.” Using the Zelle money transfer system, crooks have come up with a new twist on the old rip-off scheme in which they impersonate your bank or credit union.

There are those that insist that the earth as we know it took millions, even billions of years to become what it is today. Skyline High School celebrated their 2022 Casino- themed Homecoming on Friday, October 7. They started off their celebration last Monday with dress-up days all week for their spirit week.

Bergner and Sterling are 2022 PHS Homecoming king and queen

Pratt High School hosted annual fall homecoming events October 7, with the week prior a time of special spirit days and dress up following this year’s theme of “Game On.” Students voted Sam Bergner and Kena Sterling as king and queen for the 2022 festivities which included a traditional football game on Friday at Zerger Field.

School closures saved lives

educationfrontlines@yahoo.com Across the U.S., politicians are running campaigns asserting that statewide school closures in 2020 were not only unnecessary but totally useless in stemming the spread of COVID-19. Medical research based on actual records of hospitalizations and deaths in the early months of the pandemic clearly shows that substantially more deaths would have occurred if the schools would have been kept open.

Pratt High School coaches, grad, receive state and national recognition

Pratt High School wrestling club coaches and student- athletes continue to garnish honors and recognition from state organizations for achievements brought by hard work and integrity in past seasons. Last April, the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association handed out annual awards that included high honors to Livia Swift - Senior Wrestler of the Year 4A-1A Girls; Tate Thompson - Head Coach of the Year 4A-1A Girls; and Ron Prater Assistant Coach of the Year 4A-1A Girls.
