I’m gong to talk about a subject that might be touchy to some animal lovers. There are a lot of people who like feeding the deer in their backyard because they really enjoy watching them – kind of like a mammalian bird feeder – and they think they’re helping their personal herd. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Walk by Faith Women’s Conference to feature local speakers, special music

On Saturday, October 22 a special women’s faith conference welcomes all those interested in learning more about their journey in faith with God at The Front Porch, 115 E. Fourth Street in Pratt. Local speakers Marcia Shrack and Shelbey Kendall will share their faith journey stories and testimonies, plus worship leader Kelcie Exline from Spark United in Hutchinson will provide music.

Local doctor has a honey of a hobby

Dr. Alan Pribil, MD is better known for what he does during work hours as an Internal Medicine Specialist in Pratt with more than 43 years of experience in the medical field, than for what he does in his spare time. This is somewhat understanding as his spare time is quite sparse. But a recent Facebook post by his wife, Bekki Pribil, has shed light on a lifelong interest of Dr. Pribil that has some in his community buzzing about the possibilities of purchasing locally grown honey.

Men’s soccer defend home field against Allen County

Pratt, Kan. - On Wednesday, October 12, the Pratt Community College Beavers hosted the #12 Red Devils of Allen County Community College. In what has become a rivalry between the two teams, last night’s match was not only for jockeying in the conference standings, but one where the Beavers were looking for revenge after having lost at Allen County 2-1 back on September 21.

EPA seeks nominations for local government advisory committee

LENEXA, KAN. – The U.S.Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing a solicitation for nominations to serve on its Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC), which advises EPA on critical environmental issues impacting local governments. The agency is also accepting nominations for LGAC’s Small Communities Advisory Subcommittee (SCAS).

God speaks to us so we can share the blessing

Those of us who believe God created man tend to also believe that God also wants to communicate with us. It is sad that those who created their own god have a god who is deaf and dumb. They can not answer prayers or comfort or lead. What a sorry excuse for a god. But for us who follow a God who is personal, it is a true joy to experience a relationship with our very Creator.
