MISSION (AP) — The head of a Kansas legislative panel wants to end the state’s contract with its largest foster care contractor, after two former executives were accused of scheming to defraud the organization out of at least $4.7 million.
TOPEKA—The judicial branch will increase the number of veterans treatment courts operating in Kansas by three and enhance existing treatment court operations thanks to three grants from the U.S. Department of Justice.
The proposed amendment failed by less than 10,000 votes in the initial ballot count. It would have allowed the Kansas Legislature to take away some policy-making capabilities from the governor’s administration.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that distressed borrowers with qualifying USDA farm loans have already received nearly $800 million in assistance, as part of the $3.1 billion in assistance for distressed farm loan borrowers provided through Section 22006 of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
