City of Pratt presents employee service Awards at commission meeting

On December 5, Pratt City Commissioners presented annual employee service awards to reaching notable milestones. Lola Shumway and Anthony Conn were present to receive their awards. Jeff Ward and Larry Eisenhaur could not appear in person. Eisenhauer has worked for the city for 10 years. Ward has actually served the city for 18 years, the recognition on Monday was for his 15 of service, which was accidentally overlooked at the time. Shumway has served the city for 20 years. Conn has served for 25 years.

KDWP employee named NextGen Under 30 Award recipient

Kansas City, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is proud to announce that one of its own has been inducted into the prestigious NextGen Under 30 award program. Tanna (Fanshier) Wagner, who serves as KDWP’s Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation coordinator in the Department’s Education Section, was recently named a 2022 NextGen Under 30 award recipient in the category of “Sports and Outdoors.” Wagner was hired on at KDWP in 2018, following her graduation from Kansas State University.

Pratt County bull rider competes in National Finals Rodeo

It’s been a long, hard season for Pratt County bull rider JR Stratford, but securing a spot as a National Finals Rodeo qualifier has made it all worthwhile for the 20-year-old from Byers, Kansas. Last Friday, Stratford said riding in the 2022 National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas was a dream come true, and even a painful arm injury would not keep him from competing.

Open House is start of Christmas events in Greensburg

A Greensburg Holiday Open House event on Saturday, December 3 drew both local residents out to participate in shopping and refreshment opportunities as well as some passersby. “We just thank everyone for participating and making this such a successful event,” said Greensburg Tourism Director and Big Well Director Heather Coyne.
