Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pratt, Kansas Special to the Tribune Before they were led out of the degenerate Jerusalem of 600BC, the prophet Lehi had sweeping dreams and visions of the impending Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem, and of God, and of the condition of mankind. In his vision of the tree of life he beheld a tree whose fruit ”was desirable above all other fruit”(1). He partook and was filled with joy, and in his vision he then beheld a rod of iron leading to the tree along a straight and narrow path, with “numberless concourses of people, many of whom were pressing forward that they might obtain the path which led to the tree”(2). “And it came to pass” Lehi said, “that there arose a mist of darkness… insomuch that they who had commenced in the path did lose their way, and wandered off and were lost”(2). He beheld a river of water, and on the other side of the water was a great and spacious building filled with people “in the attitude of mocking and pointing their fingers towards those who had come at and were partaking of the fruit”(2).
