Mock trial: Skyline students achieve ‘not guilty’ verdict

As the year draws to a close, the Skyline Schools’ American Government class had the opportunity to take part in an event that was equal parts drama, study, and performance in the form of a mock trial. This was the third year for this presentation, and the first for it to be held in the big gym for an audience. The hands-on assignment was the brainchild of the Government teacher, Chris Sanders.

KANSASWORKS to Hold Weekend Statewide Virtual Job Fair in May

TOPEKA – Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland today announced an upcoming job fair that will be held on a weekend for Kansans seeking new career opportunities. Jobseekers and employers from all industries are encouraged to take part in the Statewide Virtual Job Fair, hosted by KANSASWORKS, any time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, May 16-18.

KJCCC levels the playing field for Kansas student-athletes

In a landmark move designed to bolster opportunities for local athletes, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) has approved a new bylaw requiring all member institutions to reserve at least 25% of their athletic Letters of Intent (LOIs) for Kansas students. The decision, made at this week’s KJCCC meeting, marks a renewed investment in Kansas talent and will take effect starting with the 2026–2027 academic year.

Miss Kansas Organization and American Heart Association to host lifesaving CPR training luncheon for young women leaders

Pratt, Kansas –The American Heart Association and the Miss Kansas Organization are joining forces to equip the next generation of young women leaders with lifesaving skills during a special luncheon and CPR/AED training event at Pratt Community College on Tuesday, June 3, at 11:30 a.m. The event will bring together 38 delegates from across Kansas, along with Miss Kansas 2024 Alexis Smith and Miss Kansas’ Teen 2024 Averie Mountain, for an afternoon centered on heart health awareness, education, and emergency preparedness.
