The senior center officially reopened at the new location after the 2007 tornado in May 2012. Over the last 13 years can you guess how many puzzles have been assembled? Ms. Wheelchair Kansas selects new titleholders

The 2025 Ms. Wheelchair Kansas (MWKS) was recently crowned during a weekend ceremony held March 16, 2025, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Lawrence, Kan. Autumn Bertels of Lawrence received her crown after participating in four judging sessions, as well as many other activities, throughout the three-day event held March 14-16. The weekend concluded with a formal crowning, where Autumn was chosen as the new titleholder and fellow contestants Magda Carlos-Trevino of Olathe and Jessica Soderlund of Beloit were recognized for their accomplishments. New Junior Miss and Little Miss titleholders were also announced at the ceremony. Isabel Einwich of Bel Aire will serve as Junior Miss Wheelchair Kansas 2025 and Mia Gaumer of St. Mary’s will serve as Little Miss Wheelchair Kansas 2025.

Adventures in Reading: The right to protest can teach us much

Billie Blair’s recent article in the Tri-County Tribune about the local protest in Pratt Kansas included Pat Schwarts’s Gandhi quote: “Make injustice visible.” Retired meteorologist Greg Hanson shared his concern about the recent reduction of National Weather employees. It could not have been more relevant, with the severe storms of last week! It was as if Mother Nature displayed her agreement with Hanson’s concern. The local protestors did their part in showing their concerns, but the question is, do protests make a difference?

Pratt boys win 2025 CKL track title, girls place sixth in Nickerson

The Pratt High School Track team recently competed in the 2025 Central Kansas League Meet, which featured all the schools in the league. This year, the meet took place on Thursday, May 15, with Nickerson being the host school. Both sides of the team competed very well, and several athletes claimed individual championships in various events.

Grippin signs to play baseball at Friends University

Macksville High School senior Kendall Grippin has signed a letter of intent to play baseball with Friends University. He played with the Kinsley-Macksville baseball team for the past two years. In his tenure as a baseball player, Grippin was the 2024 Five Tool Oklahoma Tournament Player of the Game (championship game) pitched 4 innings 4K’s 1 hit 0 Runs.

Presentation to explore the history of American Indian Boarding Schools

The Stafford Co. Museum Library will host “A History of the American Indian Boarding Schools,” a presentation and discussion by Eric Anderson on Sunday, June 1, at 2 p.m., at 100 N. Main in Stafford. Pratt City Commission approves dispatch pay increase

At the May 19 regular meeting, the Pratt City Commission addressed the issue of its emergency dispatchers’ pay. Although the City Manager has authority to raise wages on her own, Gina Goff wanted to be sure and apprise the city commissioners of the change and receive their blessing. Pratt has had a very difficult time retaining dispatchers.
