Manor residents create patriotic quilt for July 4 raffle

Members of a sewing club at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham have joined forces to create a full-size patriot quilt that features an eagle center with red, white, and blue sides that will be raffled off for July 4 as a fundraiser for the skilled nursing center. B-29 Museum to host 5K and Veterans Picnic on June 7 in Pratt

Saturday, June 7, 2025 marks the Second Annual B-29 Museum 5K Run/Walk to raise funds for preserving and promoting the B-29 Museum, an important part of Pratt’s history. Last year, over 100 runners and walkers participated in the 5K, a 3.1 mile route around the once Pratt Army Air Field (PAAF). For 2025 we’ve added a 1-mile Walk on the Historical Trail and a Veterans Appreciation Picnic.

Pratt boys win 4 x 400 relay at state

Pratt High School runners Blake Winsor, Arley Morrell, Carlito Lara, Cade Liggett made history at the 2025 Kansas State High School Track and Field Meet in Wichita this past weekend. The four Greenbacks ran the 4 x 400m relay in 3:24.27 to take first place in 4A competition, setting a new school record for the event that was almost two seconds faster than the second place team at state.

Unlike hunting seasons, fishing never really ends here in Kansas. Yes, different times of the year bring with them differing success rates for different species, but there is good fishing to be had year around here in the sunflower state if you know where to go and how to do it. The Kansas Dept of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) puts together and maintains fishing reports and fishing forecasts to help you with that. I spoke with the KDWPT Fisheries Biologist in my area and got a crash course in reading and interpreting their fishing reports and forecasts and learned more about how they put them together.

You know everyone and how they’re connected to the next person you meet and how that person is connected to the mayor from the 1970s.
