Men’s soccer kicks off August 22 at PCC

The Pratt Community College (PCC) men’s soccer team is excited to announce their 2025 season schedule. Their season will consist of nine home games and seven away games, which brings the total of 16 games. The Beavers will start off their preseason with a scrimmage versus Dodge City on August 16.

Pratt pool is the place to be this summer

The Gary and Jean Cromer Municipal Pool was dedicated in the summer of 2023 to the City of Pratt. Now two years old, the swimming pool provides summer fun for more than 200-250 people per day (estimate) with two water slides, diving boards, zero entry, walking river, swimming lanes, basketball hoop, and the historic frog slide.

General Vic Braden, who may be more well-known locally as grandpa, or friend, is a decorated veteran with an Army Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious service. The Pratt born and raised native also earned the Legion of Merit for outstanding conduct and achievement, and two Bronze Star Medals for heroic or meritorious achievement in a combat zone. His life is one to highlight as the nation celebrates independence and freedom on 4th of July.

My mom was so allergic to poison ivy I still believe to this day she could have caught it by merely looking at the plants. I remember her being hospitalized once with poison ivy so bad on her hand that it resembled raw hamburger. My dad on the other hand could’ve rolled around in the stuff and never known it. One night a few years back I went to change a flat tire on our mobile deer blind which was still in the woods, and found it to be afloat in a sea of the healthiest poison ivy I’d ever seen. I chopped it down all around the tire, wore gloves and was pretty careful as I worked, but three or four days later I had a small patch of rash on one arm, the first time I ever “got” poison ivy.

Credit Union of America raises money for Children’s Miracle Network

Credit Union of America (CUA) has announced that its 19th Annual Charity Golf Classic raised $50,200 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) at Ascension Via Christi. The event was held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Crestview Country Club and served as the official kickoff to the Wichita Open, one of the Korn Ferry Tour’s premier stops featuring top professional golfers.
