Here comes a rate hike in property taxes

In a world of rising gas prices, groceries, and income taxes—just to name a few—City of Pratt residents can add another to the list: appraised value of all homes within the city limits increased by 10% compared to 2023 values.Comparing 2023 to 2022, that increase was only 6%.County residents are seeing noticeable rate hikes as well, and not just in Pratt County, but the numbers will likely have an impact on the local economy for all. What this means for local residents depends upon what local taxing entities do with their mill levy rates, which must be set by September.Cheryl Budge, Deputy Appraiser at the Pratt County Appraisers Office, is quick to point out that her office is not a taxing entity.
