Big money raised by bicycle riders

At the recent Open Range Gravel Race, the Tri County Tribune coverage area was well represented by area cyclists.Overall, $8,000 was raised this year to support charity and nonprofit organizations in Pratt and Barber counties.Pratt cyclists who participated in the 2024 100K race included Tony Conn, Aaron Jorns, Jerod Harsh, Greg Hanson, Isaac Frasier, Dakota Holgrieve, Spencer Siroky, Mike Stanton, Shea Lunt, Brooke Borysiewicz, Josh Nicolay, Jake Siroky, and Linda Henson.Luke Derstein was the sole Greensburg rider in the 100K.For the 200K Open Range Gravel Race, Pratt County was well-represented by David Briggeman of Iuka and Dalton Kenworthy of Coats.In the 200K Race, 60 persons participated, with 6 DNF (Did Not Finish).Dalton Kenworthy completed the entire course, finishing 45th.“I didn’t think that I’d be able to do it.

Honor Flight veterans stop in Pratt

A large contingent of Pratt Presbyterian Church members showed up to offer well-wishes to 15 Western Kansas military servicemen who were boarding a bus as part of #98 Kansas Honor Flight.The church’s parking lot was a pick up point for veteran Dale Stephenson (Korean War) and his son-in-law Pat Stanley.Many supportive signs, banners, and United States flags flew in the Kansas wind during the Pratt stop.Veterans passing through Pratt on their way to the Eisenhower Regional Airport in Wichita were from Garden City, Syracuse, Johnson City, Oakley, Hoxie, Colby, Grainfield, and Park, Kansas.The City of Pratt Fire Department was also on hand to wish the veterans well on their honorary journey to Washington, D.C.
