Paul Garcia, was seriously injured in a crash in rural Pratt County early August 9 when the truck he was driving near Coats went off the road due to reported bright lights from another vehicle that blinded him.
Genesee Nutrition and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) of the NJCAA have announced a partnership agreement that will elevate the organization’s 2025-26 conference championships with healthy nutrition snacks for KJCCC student-athletes. The partnership marks the first conference agreement for Genesee Nutrition within the NJCAA. Pratt Community College is a member of KJCCC.
On a weekend where more than 40 participants opened up their garages and alleys for garage sales with a primary purpose to get rid of unused stuff and make a bit of cash, one group stood out with their collection and purpose for sales.
Last week, my former partners and longtime colleagues Dr. Aaron Zook and Dr. Rachel Hauser thought they were in ongoing negotiations and discussions with PRMC to fill the void of Dr. Dyer leaving, so they could continue caring for the patients of this region as they have with Dr. Dan Suiter and I, for the past 30-40 years.
For 40 residents at Americare Hilltop Manor in Cunningham, and their invited family members and friends, Friday, August 1, 2025 was a day to remember. Elvis came to town, bringing songs, dancing, smiles, clapping, and good memories for those in attendance.
I would like to start with a bit of history. Pratt Internal Medicine Group began in the mid-1970s with Ron Quenzer MD, Dan Suiter MD and later Steve Dillon MD. All were board certified specialists in internal medicine. PIMG has continued as a corporate entity since that time, and only in the last few years was it acquired by Pratt Regional Medical Center who currently own it. Physicians have come and gone over the years including Mike Honan MD and Jennifer Jackson MD, but the actual practice has continued unabated and has always provided high quality specialty care for the adult.
The recent After Harvest Czech Festival, held in Wilson, KS, illustrates well how a small community annually comes together to honor its Czech (and a little Slovak) heritage.
