Another View: The Book of Mormon and the “things” trap

The prophet Nephi(1) was “much cast down because of the wickedness of the people”(2), and was pondering it on his way back home after having so tirelessly preached righteousness to a backslid generation, when he heard a voice saying “Blessed art thou Nephi, … for I have beheld how thou hast with unwearyingness declared the word, … and thou hast not feared them, and hast not sought thine own life, but hast sought my will, and to keep my commandments.”(3)God was very pleased with Nephi’s integrity and devotion and blessed him with mighty spiritual power, by which many were helped.

Students celebrate veterans and families

Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2024 was a special occasion this year at Southwest Elementary School in Pratt, as it is every year, but this year there was something more.There were the usual drums beating out a demanding cadence as more than 350 children from grades PreK-4th made their way into the school gymnasium.
