A 30’ X 50’ American flag waving just off U.S. Highway 54/400 at the east edge of Pratt has caught the attention of those passing through and local residents. Stationed at the front of property owned by Fossil Truck Sales and Detwiler Diesel Repair it is a beacon of hope for the future and source of rural pride.

“We have had a lot of people just stop in off the highway to come in and thank us for our flag,” said Spencer Siroky, Fossil Truck Sales manager. “They love it and we do too.”

Siroky said his Fossil Truck Sales business and Detwiler Diesel Repair moved into the building which was formerly occupied by KanEquip back in May 2024. The flag was just installed last week, mid-December.

“At the time we moved in we thought about putting a big sign up there in front, but I just thought we should put up a big flag instead. It seemed like the perfect spot for it,” Siroky said.

Siroky said he received the okay to pursue the big flag project from business owner and his dad, Brian Siroky. From there is took a team of people to get it figured out and set up.

“It took quite a bit of thought on how to do this,” he said. “We had a good team that all made this possible.<n>Siroky mentioned several names of welders, engineers, and employees who helped make the project work including Jesus Castillo, Troy Detwiler, Ryan Ravenstein, Brady Ravenstein, and Jake Siroky.

“We did it all ourselves. We just figured it out as we went along,” Siroky said.

The end result has lifted spirits and increased smiles for many who travel the state highway as well as for local residents.

“It’s been a great addition to the Pratt landscape,” Siroky said.
