St. John Tigers turn in noteworthy results at early track and field meets

St. John-Hudson High School track and field coaches Trish Wade and Danny Smith (assistant) took their teams out for two competitions last week, Pre-State at Cessna Stadium in Wichita and a league meet at Lyons High School. Results from both occasions were noteworthy.

”Pre-State in Wichita at Cessna stadium was a big meet and our first of the season,” said Smith. The boys 4×800 team placed 2nd with a time of 8:52 (Braxton Alpers, Kaden Foote, Jace Reyes, Quade Smith); the 4×400 team placed first with a time of 3:38 (Jericho Mawhirter, Jace Reyes, Braxton Alpers, Quade Smith).

Individually, Lydia Reed placed 15th in the 800 with a time of 3:38 and Quade Smith placed 4th with a time of 2:03. All of these races were in the 1-3A division.

At the Lyons Invitational Track meet the following Tigers earned points and medals: Teresa Miller – 6th – 400 – 1:15; Aaden Gonzales – 1st – 3200 – 11:40; Liam Knight 2nd 3200 – 12:11; Aden Adame – 4th – Shot Put – 41-7; 4×800 Relay – 2nd – 10:35 – (Liam Knight, Rafael Gonzalez, Aaden Gonzalez, DJ Barney).
