Williamson Investments of Pratt, in operation for nearly 4 years, oversees a diverse portfolio that includes rental properties, the laundromat on 1st St. in Pratt, storage units, TK Handyman Services, and serves as Pratt’s only U-Haul dealer. The company has now expanded its offerings by adding car rentals to its lineup.
“I believe that there’s a demand for rental cars here in Pratt. There’s not a lot of choices here, with only one other car rental option. We bring more availability to the area, so somebody doesn’t have to go to Wichita or Hutchinson for a car rental. We even offer pickup and delivery service. So, if you’re at the airport, or a local hotel, we can pick you up and bring you to the car or bring the car to you,” said Terry Williamson, owner of Willamson Investments.
Williamson currently has an inventory of three vehicles available for rental, all of which are 2024 models. The inventory includes a Hyundai Elantra and two SUVs which are a Buick Encore and a GMC Terrain. The Hyundai Elantra rents for $49.95 plus $0.25 per mile, per day. The SUVs rent for $59.95 plus $0.25 per mile, per day. Unlimited mileage plans begin in the range of $125 per day.
“There are no hidden fees such as at the big box stores who start tacking on GPS fees, Sirius XM fees, and dealer fees,” Williamson said. “Our fees are all upfront. Also, our rentals are round trip rentals, not one-way rentals, meaning the pickup and drop off location is here at our office.”
Williamson said that renters have insurance through their own policies but an add on policy is available and handled through Strong’s Insurance in Pratt, if desired by the renter. He hopes that those who rent his cars will always consider safety and reliability factors when renting an automobile from him.
“The vehicles are new and under warranty. Every vehicle I have has less than 5,000 miles on it. We’re looking at a 2-year rotation to ensure that the vehicles stay reliable for the customer. For servicing we will be using local Pratt providers,” he said.
In the nearly two months since starting his car rental branch, Williamson has distributed flyers at the airport, car dealerships, and body shops. He has contacted several local hotels and motels, with plans to expand outreach to all accommodations in the area in the coming weeks. Williamson also has a website under construction which will be coming online soon.
“We aim to cater to the customer’s needs. We offer good, clean, quality, affordable car rentals and want to be known for providing good customer service and good deals,” he said.
