The St. John Lady Tigers found themselves in the unusual position of being down in the score heading into the final quarter of their December 17, 2024 basketball game against Larned. They came back with determination to win 40-35 by the time the final buzzer sounded.

“We defended well to only allow them 35 points and their best player 9 points. We didn’t execute offensively very well, but I was proud of our girls and the competitiveness they showed to come back after being down 26-30 heading into the 4th quarter,” said head coach for the Tigers Danny Smith.

Gentri Bright led St. John with 11 points and Jalyn Fisher had 10.

A team to watch, the Lady Tigers are 5-1 overall at the Christmas Break with recent wins over Larned, and Kiowa County High School (43-14) on December 23. They hosted Central Christian on January 3, and travel to Little River on January 18.
