The Macksville High School boys basketball team bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday to beat the Sublette Larks by a score of 59-47 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
This time, Macksville’s success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, led by Diego Esparza who dropped in 26 points along with eight boards and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Esparza has scored at least a third of Macksville’s points. Nolan Adams was another key player, earning double-double accolades for 16 points and ten rebounds.
Macksville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they’ve now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.
The Mustangs have an early-season winning record of 3-1, as they also defeated South Gray 61-58 win against South Gray on December 14.
