Christmas is everywhere

Santa and the Grinch went toe-to-toe at BTI in Pratt last week, the true story of Christmas was highlighted in St. John on Saturday, chorals of the season filled the halls and rooms at the Pratt County Historical Museum on Sunday, and an indoor Candy Cane Lane lights event opened at the Kiowa County Soda Fountain, and that’s not all. Between Christmas brass music extraordinaire, flutes and French carols at the Vernon Filley Art Museum and school programs, it is safe to say that Christmas is popping out all over in the Tri-County Tribune coverage area.

Stafford County residents enjoyed an open house Around the Square and in all places in between last weekend, with many photos captured by local cameraman Dick Smith. Though members of the Pratt High School singers sang “Where are you Christmas” last Sunday at the Pratt County Historical Museum, it wasn’t hard to find vestiges of the coming holiday around every corner and on every surface that wasn’t already covered with cookies and holiday lights.

Earlier in the month, Santa Claus showed up at the Big Well Museum and Visitors Center and his appearance coincided with a Joyful Noise String Music Academy performance in Greensburg. Then Santa Claus showed up at several additional locations for pictures with children last week, including Pratt’s BTI and downtown Ain’t My First Rodeo. Sources say there will be a Santa Claus at Pratt’s Maurices on Sunday, December 15, and some will be seeing double as a hot air balloon Santa is scheduled for a touch down at Green Sports Complex, rain or shine, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 15 in Pratt.

Many area schools and churches are planning, or already performing, Christmas programs. A special children’s version of the true meaning of Christmas took place at the Stafford County Annex last week, presented by Trinity Lutheran Church. Pratt’s Abundant Harvest Church of the Nazarene has more than 60 children involved in a special Christmas program Sunday morning, December 15 (check the church Facebook page for more information).

It seems it is Christmastime in all of the Tri-County Tribune coverage area. Christmas lights on houses and in parks have no timeline for enjoyment. The hard part of the season, however, is remembering which event is next, featuring who, when, and where. Each week, a list of Coming Events is featured on the front page of the Tri-County Tribune. This also appears on our website and Facebook page. Be sure to check our website at www.tricountytribune.news for photo gallery segments of local events.
