Gray Photography Studio is home to art classes and more

A temporary building constructed in the 1800s is now open for art classes, historical research, and may soon even be available as an Air BnB, if local artist Carol Long has anything to do with it. Known as the Gray Photography Studio, the unique building at 116 N. Main in St. John has gone through many phases of use, disuse, dilapidation, rediscovery, and renovation. On Saturday, last week, several classes of students benefited from the dedication of a revolving art committee that has followed a vision of Long and others to make the building into a community art center.

Skyline volleyball wins match with Cunningham

Skyline Thunderbird volleyball began this season with some work to do. Graduating five of the six varsity starters meant that underclassmen really had to step up and be ready to fill some important positions on the court. These girls did not shy away from such a heady responsibility; rather, they worked hard to learn new positions and adjust to the increased speed of the game. The regular season is past mid-point, and it looks as if the Thunderbirds have found their rhythm and are playing better with each new match. This was never more apparent than their win in the closing match at home against the Wildcats of Cunningham on Tuesday, Sept 23.
