Preston Dunn part of Taiwan Agricultural Youth Exchange

MANHATTAN, Kansas — Four Kansas State University students traveled to Taiwan August 8-16, 2025, to represent Kansas in the Taiwan Agricultural Youth Exchange Program. The bilateral exchange offers students an opportunity to explore Taiwan’s agricultural industry and deepen their understanding of economic ties between Kansas and Taiwan, particularly through agricultural exports.

There is still time to plant a fall salad garden

Radishes, spinach, turnips, mustard, lettuce and other leafy greens can be planted from mid-August to early September extending the harvest into fall. If planted in-ground, plant seeds slightly deeper than recommended for spring. This will give seeds access to slightly cooler soil that retains more moisture. Provide regular water until seeds germinate. Sprinkle a light layer of compost over the top of the seeds to prevent the soil from forming a crust.
