St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Natrona is a congregation of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. On September 20th and 21st, it plans to observe the 125th anniversary of its founding. Is an anniversary of a congregation of Christ’s church the celebration of a milestone? A human achievement? Or something more?

Kiowa County High School will be hosting the Minneola Wildcats on September 5 as part of their fall homecoming festivities. The parade tradition continues starting at 2 p.m. on Greensburg’s Main Street. The official homecoming crowning will take place at 6:40 p.m. at the Kiowa County High School football field.

TOPEKA – Thousands of vehicles will travel the Kansas roadways during the Labor Day weekend. Many families will head out for the long weekend as summer ends and the school year begins. Safe Kids Kansas, which is sponsored by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), State Farm Insurance and the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT), want to encourage families to buckle up and drive safely to protect their most important cargo, their families.

Sunday, August 24 was a beautiful day for the “Fairways For Freedom” golf scramble hosted by Pratt Elks Lodge #1451. Since 2021, the Pratt Elks Lodge has dedicated this event to honoring veterans. The themes for the past years have been: in 2022, “Tee Up for Veterans”; in 2023, “Salute to Veterans”; in 2024, “Swingin’ Fore Veterans”; and this year’s theme is “Fairways for Freedom.” We are proud to share that we have contributed over $16,500 to support our amazing veterans.

A few years ago, I blogged about AI. I was concerned about kids using it to cheat on assigned compositions. I bemoaned the impact of artists being displaced by AI created images. I resented the work of authors being downloaded to educate AI how to write, essentially stealing our work without compensation. Was I ever naive! Today, objecting to AI is like the old story of Pandora already being out of the box!
