Pratt boys win 4 x 400 relay at state

Pratt High School runners Blake Winsor, Arley Morrell, Carlito Lara, Cade Liggett made history at the 2025 Kansas State High School Track and Field Meet in Wichita this past weekend. The four Greenbacks ran the 4 x 400m relay in 3:24.27 to take first place in 4A competition, setting a new school record for the event that was almost two seconds faster than the second place team at state.

Unlike hunting seasons, fishing never really ends here in Kansas. Yes, different times of the year bring with them differing success rates for different species, but there is good fishing to be had year around here in the sunflower state if you know where to go and how to do it. The Kansas Dept of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) puts together and maintains fishing reports and fishing forecasts to help you with that. I spoke with the KDWPT Fisheries Biologist in my area and got a crash course in reading and interpreting their fishing reports and forecasts and learned more about how they put them together.

You know everyone and how they’re connected to the next person you meet and how that person is connected to the mayor from the 1970s. You’ve heard Harry at the local café tell the same story a hundred times. You smile and laugh at the appropriate times, but pay little attention. Why should you? Miss Kansas Organization and American Heart Association host CPR training luncheon

Pratt, Kansas – The American Heart Association and the Miss Kansas Organization are joining forces to equip the next generation of young women leaders with lifesaving skills during a special luncheon and CPR/AED training event at Pratt Community College on Tuesday, June 3, at 11:30 a.m. The event will bring together 38 delegates from across Kansas, along with Miss Kansas 2024 Alexis Smith and Miss Kansas’ Teen 2024 Averie Mountain, for an afternoon centered on heart health awareness, education, and emergency preparedness.

Miss Kansas, Miss Kansas Teen 2025 week begins with Bingo at Pratt Elks Lodge

The 2025 Miss Kansas and Miss Kansas Teen competitions will take place in Pratt, Kansas the first week of June, with a Kick Off to the Crown event starting at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, at the Pratt Elks Lodge, 1103 W. 5th Street. Tickets may be purchased at www.misskansas.org for this night of Bingo fun with the candidates, as well as for the preliminary and finals nights of competition at Pratt Community College.
