More than 67 people from 21 U.S. states and six countries, traveled in 17 cars on six routes between Manhattan and Colby, Kan., last Tuesday, stopping at wheat fields every 15-20 miles along the routes, as part of the Wheat Quality Council’s 67th Annual Hard Winter Wheat Evaluation Tour.
The Pratt High School softball team recently wrapped up their 2025 campaign. After putting together a very successful regular season, the Lady Greenbacks claimed the #7 seed in the 4A West Regional bracket.
Following His resurrection from the dead, Jesus came to his people in Jerusalem, on the road to Emmaus, and in Galilee. Jesus likewise came to His “sheep of another fold’(1) in the new world. He taught them the words of the prophet Malachi, which they did not have, concerning the time we call the “Second Coming”(2). “The Lord whom ye seek shall suddenly come to his temple”, Jesus taught them - and us - “But who”, the Messiah queried, “may abide the day of his coming … And who shall stand when he appeareth? … and I will come near to you to judgement; and I will be swift witness against sorcerers, and against adulterers, and against false swearers [liars], and against those that oppress the hireling … the widow and the fatherless, and turn aside the stranger [those in need of help], and fear [honor] me not.”(3)
Encouraging the young to offer themselves up is a very old idea indeed. Greek solders were armed with shields and spears. The shield was heavy. A man could not run away with it. However, it was large enough to carry his body if he died in combat.
The Pratt High School Baseball team competed in the 2025 Regional tournament this past week. With the team having a very successful regular season of 22-4, they were able to secure the #2 seed in the 4A West bracket. This meant that they would be one of the host schools for regional play, which was on Tuesday, May 20.

The day was dreary but the colors vivid, the voices strong, and the honor heartfelt as people gathered to in recognition of those whose lives were lost in service to country and freedom at the 141st Memorial Day Service in Iuka.
