Macksville has increased track and field participation

Macksville High School girls should be strong in the throws this spring following the leadership of senior Morgan Sebes. Track and field competitions should be set in tone for top performances this year with personal bests from Sebes coming in at just over 100’ in the discus, 117’ in the javelin and 33’ in the shot put. Coach Jennifer Gillespie said that newcomers Diana Ibarra, Ava and Grace Chadd should excel in the sprints and jumps, while state cross country qualifier Kennedy Butler (fresh) will anchor the distance squad.

CASE 4 Learning celebrates successful teacher orientation event

CASE 4 Learning proudly recognizes the outstanding educators who have successfully completed the 2025 Lead Teacher Orientation program. This professional development event, held last month at the Iowa FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny, Iowa, equipped agricultural educators with advanced instructional strategies, andragogical skills, and industry knowledge to enhance agricultural education nationwide.

Adventures in Reading: The relevance of opinions

I understand that people today are reluctant to sign their names to opinions in today’s angry world. I have written in the past about how I miss the days when we went to parties and argued politics but left at the end of the evening as friends. What was essential to those arguments was the accuracy of the information about which we argued. One would think that today we have access to even better sources for accurate information, but it seems to me that traditional correspondents like Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite have been smothered by news filled with opinion rather than information.

Notebook2: Museums are some of our finest features in Pratt

Opening in June of 2014, The Vernon Filley Art Museum marked it’s 10th anniversary in the Pratt Community this year. The museum was the dream of Mimi Filley, who lived here years ago with her husband, Dr. Vernon Filley, a practicing doctor here in Pratt. Mimi was a lover of art and had an extensive collection of works, most of which is the base of the Filley Art Museum.
