Leadership League of South Central Kansas joins statewide convention

Local members of the Leadership League of South Central Kansas spent two days in Wichita at the Kansas Leadership Center participating in the KLC pathway program Your Leadership Edge. The Pratt-based class joined approximately 180 other professionals during the two day training. They participated in large group presentations and four rotations of smaller Edge Group break outs. In February, the class completed the first pathway program, When Everyone Leads which was a prerequisite to YLE.

Thinking about God in sunset moments

The phrase “As the deer panteth for the waters” is from Psalm 42:1 in the Bible. It reflects a deep spiritual longing, comparing the psalmist’s thirst for God to a deer’s desperate need for water. Just last night, as I sat on the back porch, I watch a thirsty deer come into the back yard looking for a drink from our pond.

Jolly Workers perform at club day

Stafford County 4-H Club Days were held on February 22nd. Top performers in each event qualify for Regional Club Days in Great Bend on March 14th. 4-H Club Days showcase a variety of public speaking events and music entries. The Jolly Workers club qualified for Regionals in their model meeting as well as individual events.

Another View: The Book of Mormon and the sheep of another fold

It was 34 A.D., following the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ, and amidst the new world destruction wrought by overtowering storms and earthquakes, a remnant of those who survived(1) had gathered. Suddenly a voice was heard saying “Behold my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name - hear ye Him.”(2). As they looked they beheld a man descending out of heaven, and he spoke to them, saying “Behold, I am Jesus Christ…I am the light and life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world…”(3) Jesus did then invite the multitude to come forth and feel the wounds he had suffered for them, “that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world”.(4)
