I have a confession to make. When snow-days happen, my discipline goes out the window. Habits that I have established, based upon getting up and going to the office, take a hiatus. The results are that during at least the first day of snow, I become a great big couch potato. It seems that I remain that way until I start to go stir crazy and need to get out. I am currently looking out my home office window and the snow is just beginning. I will bet you can imagine what is next.
An old gym on the campus of USD 382 Pratt has been restored and sports fans plus community members gathered for a grand opening of sorts at the Frog Dome on Friday, February 14 in Pratt. Pratt High School boys and girls basketball teams played, the pep band filled the space, and spectators young and old enjoyed the experience.

The Pratt High School boys’ basketball team has continued to have success as they progress through the final games of the regular season. They have won their past three games after losing to a tough Hesston team earlier in the month.
Show me a Midwesterner who doesn’t have some sort of love-hate relationship with snow, and I’ll show you the rock they have lived under. It seems as though a person either love it or hates it, and for some of us it depends upon the day. It’s hard to explain how something that makes the landscape suddenly seem so sparkling clean and pure can turn on you in an instant and ruin your day. I was reminded last week how much I love to watch snow fall and how beautiful it makes everything it touches, but also how much I hate removing it from my driveway. I’m kind of a purist, in that I believe God put it there and I don’t want to shovel it and take away any satisfaction He might get from taking it away himself! Yes, to the traveler, home owner, maintenance man and commuter, snow is often an unwelcome inconvenience. To the outdoorsman, however, snow opens up a whole new world of opportunities.
