Air accident victims ate breakfast in Pratt

Exemplifying Kansas solidarity and sorrow, U.S. Senators Roger Marshall and Jerry Moran shared heartfelt sympathy in a media press conference last Thursday for air accident victims and their families. The Zoom meeting was scheduled to provide information to invited media about the late Wednesday collision of a military Black Hawk helicopter and American Airlines Eagle Flight 5342.

Pastoral Commentary: Do what God wants

Just over a month ago, many children were awakened by parents or perhaps parents awakened by children because Santa came. There was excitement and joy in what was about to happen as they rushed to see the new gifts under the tree. Although many parents forced their children to get to bed so that “Santa could come,” if the children had their way, they would have stayed awake and would have been vigilant all night. We are now in between that event and another time in which we are waiting for something special from God. Easter is coming.

City of Pratt shares plans to move police department to community building

At the Pratt joint City and County Meeting, held at the Pratt County Public Safety Meeting on January 27, the City of Pratt officials explained a plan to move the Pratt Police Department from the Law Enforcement Center at the court house into the east end of the Pratt Community Building (619 N. Main) at a January 27 joint city/county meeting.

Pratt boys fourth in 11th Annual Andover Varsity Wrestling Tournament

The Pratt High School Boys’ Wrestling team opened the month of February with a very solid performance at one of their toughest regular season tournaments. The Greenbacks traveled to Andover on Saturday, February 1 for their 11th Annual varsity contest. Several wrestlers stepped up this tournament, and Pratt racked up enough points to place fourth in a tournament filled with 5A and 6A schools.

Cash rent surveys are headed to ag mailboxes

On February 5 the annual survey of cash rents and leases began. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has sent more than 241,000 surveys to farmers across the United States. Cash rents for irrigated and non-irrigated cropland and permanent pasture will be collected in the survey and will be used to find estimates of the current year’s rental rates.
