Martinez wins Haviland Rec disc golf tourney
The Haviland Recreation Commission sponsored a disc golf tournament during the 4th of July week at Barclay College.Champion of the event was Samuel Martinez, who happened to be cooling off at the Greensburg City Pool when he got the news that he was the winner.The 4th of July rec festivities also included competitive cornhole games and free inflatables in Hock Auditorium for families to enjoy out of the heat.“Thank you to everyone who came out today to celebrate with us!
Fireworks extravaganza enjoyed by many
The 4th of July week was filled with the usual celebrations and fireworks for many in the Tri-County Tribune area.

Populations of Alligator Snapping Turtles have been declining across the species’ range due to over-harvest and habitat fragmentation from the construction of dams and reservoirs.
4th of July – not everyone is so blessed
As a child, 4th of July was all about the fireworks—the Black Cat firecrackers, bottle rockets and other fireworks my friends and I lit with our punks until we could hardly stand to explode another one, as well as the nighttime show at the football stadium, with ooohs and aahs erupting as colors and sparkles cascaded down from the sky, along with whistles, kabooms and the like.

New building with air conditioning brings excitement for Stafford County Fair
Stafford County Fair officials are making the usual plans for their annual event July 16-20 at the fairgrounds in Stafford, but the addition of a new, air-conditioned main event building has everyone smiling just a bit more this year.“We are excited for the upcoming Stafford County Fair, and wanted to share the great menu of options we will have available at the concession stand indoors,” said office professional Maribel Tovar.
