Leader of Barclay College Herb Frazier passes away, along with wife, Shirley

A man credited to saving Barclay College and lifting it, by enlisting alumni support, to it’s current status as one of the premier Bible education, mission preparatory, and quality four-year post education schools in southcentral and western Kansas, has died.Herb Frazier, who along with his beloved wife, Shirley, have been considered best friends of many Friends and others who passed through the doors and hallways of Barclay College and Haviland.

Stabbing in Pratt part of busy string of emergencies

There were several emergency call-outs with response from area medical and law enforcement teams in the Tri-County Tribune coverage area that took place as the calendar turned from March to April.On Saturday, March 31, a medical emergency as confirmed by the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Department took place on Main Street in Haviland, about the same time Easter egg hunters were wrapping up festivities at the Haviland Heritage Park on the other end of town.Kiowa County EMS, Kiowa County Sheriff’s Department deputies, and other local first responders converged at a duplex home on Main Street in Haviland to provide a family there unidentified assistance.On Monday, April 1, at 6:11 a.m., the Pratt Fire Department was dispatched to the 200 block of S.

Opportunity meets expectations, and more

It’s all still a work in progress, but as Mackenzie Musgrove settles into new ownership of the Balloons and More establishment in Pratt, she is finding that the opportunity meets all her expectations, and more.Musgrove, a stay-at-home mom in Pratt, said she had been looking for a brick and morter place to showcase her side hustle of refinishing furniture when Balloons and More, formerly owned by Tonja Harrison, went up for sale.“It was just what I was looking for, the location, the parking, the space; I’m just a very fortunate woman that my husband let me do this,” Musgrove said.
