Ole Phil the groundhog came around,And found his shadow couldn’t be found!When that feller came out to play,Well shucks that fog just ruin’t his day!While he’d been sleeping in the ground,Until twas time to come around;Winter and snow did much abound,But now his shader couldn’t be found!We kinda laugh at folly like this,And that groundhog we like to dis;Not sure if he does his thing,If it’ll hasten or hinder the coming spring!One thing’s certain we like to see,Is late winter flowers oh so pretty!And to see the green grass start to grow,As we say goodbye to the melting snow!As new life abounds with the coming spring,And we love to hear the robins sing;We leave cold winter days behind,And don’t give a lick if the groundhog’s blind!2-2-2024
The Pratt High Scholar’s Bowl team has had frequent success in the past two weeks.
MANHATTAN — Kaylee Geesling of rural Turon was one of six students in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University chosen for the largest veterinary scholarship program offered by the state of Kansas: the Veterinary Training Program for Rural Kansas, or VTPRK.Geesling, who graduated from Fairfield High School, has worked at the Geesling Family Farm, graduated from Pratt Community College, worked for South Fork Veterinary Hospital in Pratt, and interned at the 6666 Ranch in Texas (spring of 2022), prior to earning this prestigious scholarship through Kansas State University.“I am so incredibly thankful to have been selected for the VTPRK program.
