Several holiday events taking place at Witts Community Center in St. John
Witts Community Center (skating rink and Sunflower Senior Center) was a buzz with Christmas Celebration, Dinner and BINGO on December 14, 2022. A group of 54 brought pot luck dishes to add to the Ham Provided by Sunflower Senior Center for a delicious and abundant dinner gathering. Each participant received a Christmas “Door prize” Gift as they arrived.
Holiday lights and animation ready for the public at Candy Cane Lane
Candy Cane Lane in Greensburg, North on 16134 30th Ave. one mile from the Main Street stoplight, has been a favored local attraction to see holiday lights and animated attractions the week before Christmas since 1975. Last week it was part of an updated 2021 listing on KSN Channel 3’s Best Holiday Lights to See in Kansas map.
Health Department needs new office desks
The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Wednesday, December 14th, 2022, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Chairman Wycoff called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Todd Wycoff, Bryce Garner, and Clayton Grimmett.
Preserving Nora’s legacy – updates from the Nora E. Larabee Memorial Library project
The basement foundation at the Nora E. Larabee Memorial Library is now 100% restored, thanks to the Heritage Trust Fund Grant and the donations and time of so many generous individuals! Although you might not notice any changes outside the building (other than the bare lawn), there are many things Pishny Restoration Services, Inc. did to restore the foundation: Outside: Trenched, repointed the exterior stone, applied moisture barrier, laid French drains, repointed and repaired the bricks on north and west walls Inside: Repointed the interior stone and brick, installed a drain, sump pump, and dehumidifier There are many people who have rallied for and worked toward the restoration of this gem of a library. Hay bale decorating contest winners announced
Creative minds and hands came together to build some of the most creative entries for the City of Greensburg’s annual hay bale decorating contest yet this year. Heather Coyne, Tourism Director at The Big Well Museum & Visitor Information Center, said that all entries were decorated by teams or individuals and had to be completed before the 6 p.m.
