Pratt teacher awarded state scholarship money

Manhattan, KS — Mr. Tim Rector, Construction Technology Instructor, USD 382, Pratt, was recently awarded a $500 Teacher Scholarship by the Kansas Association of American Educators (KANAAE), a non-union professional educators’ association serving Kansas educators. Mr. Rector will be using the scholarship to attend a SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia this next summer.

PTK holds ‘Pie Your Professor’ fundraiser at

Pratt Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society held a “Pie Your Professor” fundraiser throughout October and November 2022, with the grand finale taking place Friday, December 2 at the college. PTK invited students, faculty and staff to vote with bills and coins in the Linda Hunt Memorial Library, placing their money into the jar with the name of a desired candidate they’d like to see get a pie in the face.

Training for parents and teachers will address reading struggles for children

HAVILAND, KS – ‘The Sound Case’ training, which helps parents and teachers of dyslexic children or children with reading difficulties, will be offered at Barclay College January 17 and 18, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Haviland. The training will be given by Tammy Kofford from the Philips Fundamental Learning Center in Wichita. Cost is $200/ person and includes a box of resources for each registrant.
